Montgomery County Police need to Publicly Post their Policies on their Website.
The Montgomery County Police have a new policy that recognizes
your right to video record police-public interactions.
They should be commended for finally doing this.
But they have not seen fit to inform
the public of their new policy.
So I've posted it below, see my March 11th, 2013 posting.
There is clear public interest in policies that involve
police interactions with the public, particularly for things
like the new use of force policy, now in limbo somewhere.
All police policies that deal with interactions with the
public should be posted on the police website.
There is also a need for reports on the outcomes
of complaints to the police. To the extent permitted by law,
and until such time as the county establishes a citizen review
board, there should be, at the bare minimum, an annual public
report on the overall statistics of the types of complaints
and the outcomes.
